Stereo mastering is the art of enhancing a fully mixed track so that it is ready for release formats (digital, streaming, CD, vinyl, tape, etc). It’s the art of ‘seeing the forest, not the trees.’

I will carefully balance frequency distribution, dynamics, saturation, and spaciousness to ensure your songs sound fantastic and translate properly across all playback systems.

The mastering stage is a place where we step out of the mixing engineer’s perspective (so focused on ‘the trees,’ on the details and dynamic interplay of the instruments and sections of a song) and look at it from further away, to work on ‘the forest.’

This applies to collections of music as well. Part of a mastering engineer’s job is also to coordinate an album (or any other grouping of music) so that the music flows artfully from song to song, and so that everything feels like it belongs together.

Whatever final formats you need can be delivered.

Stem mastering gives greater control over your final sound by working with grouped elements instead of a single mix. It allows for final mixing work that blends into mastering. We could say that this approach ‘works on the trees and the forest at the same time.’

Stem mastering is helpful when:

A) there are some technical problems that need addressing, and those problems can’t be easily dealt with in stereo mastering without unacceptable side effects. 

B) when you want to give your song some extra care and attention, to get deeper enhancements to balance, dynamics, and tone.

Session Mixing is where each element in your produced song gets balanced, sculpted, and adorned to fit with every other element. This is the part of the music production process where you need someone who knows how to ‘see the trees,’ and knows how to fit them together to ‘make a good forest.’
